HERITAGE WEEKEND 9th, 10th, 11th September
“ST. ANDREW’S ROCKS!” featuring the period 1955—1965 St. Andrew’s Church Shottery “rocked” over the Heritage Weekend. A weekend of fun and nostalgia which started on the Friday evening with Juke Box Jury. John Naish proved a very smooth David Jacobs and those who were teenagers in the decade 1955 to 1965 had a great time reliving the great music and dance of the time. Saturday was geared towards the children with Crackerjack being the focus of the day’s activities. Brian Richardson proved a very apt Leslie Crowther and the children (and some adults) won lots of prizes including a fair few cabbages. There were many other games for the children and great fun was had by all. There were displays of wedding photographs from this period – and photographs of people as they were then and guess who they were. Gosh, were we ever that young? Nostalgia abounded from the display of memorabilia.
St. Andrew’s chose the period 1955 – 1965 to link up with the Golden Jubilee After the service everyone enjoyed some light refreshments out in the sunshine. This was followed by entertainment by some of our Junior choir with choral, flute, clarinet and violin items. The weekend ended with a delicious parish lunch provided by Ladies Fellowship.
